We loved reading, thinking, and writing about The Three Little Pigs. We enjoyed different versions of the book and thought of our own endings and ideas for the book. We shared our 3 Pigs thinking with partner Lego creations. Take a look in the video below.

Fair Haven Farms 2016

We had a perfect fall day to visit Fair Haven Farms. The signs of fall were abounding! We loved tasting the fruit and picking our own pumpkin to take home.

Our Forever Books

We loved checking out each other's "Forever Books". We got to know each other better as readers and reminded each other how important it is to read books over and over again.

We have been taking advantage of the nice weather and bringing our learning outside when we can. Our first week of school, we learned about bubbles and watermelon -- check out our hands-on exploration in the video below.

Kindergarten Advice 2016

As summer rolls on, I continue to miss those sweet Beach Buddies of last year. I loved watching this video and seeing their smiling faces. It also reminded me of how far these kids came from day 1 of K. Thankfully, they put all that smart learning into this video of advice for next year's crew. I am sure we'll watch this video often in September! Enjoy!

Fun and Fitness 2016

Fun and Fitness was such a fantastic way to end the school year. A big shout out to Mr. Aeikens for all his hard work to make the day a success.

Signs of Spring

We have been patiently waiting for spring to pop up around AES. Slowly we are seeing some signs of spring and hoping to see more in the next week! We used our ipads to draw a favorite sign of spring - check them out in the video below.

Pen Pal Visit 2016

It may have been cold and dreary outside, but inside the bus and at TIES it was warm and happy! We had a fantastic day meeting our Pen Pals. We also fit in lots of learning as we made our animal research videos. Enjoy some highlights of our day. We'll share the animal research videos once we get our hands on them from TIES. Thanks again to Target for sponsoring our trip and to all the parents who helped with research and chaperoning.

Mud, Mud, Mud!

This week read read and wrote about a favorite kindergarten thing...MUD! We wrote our own poems about mud and wanted to share them with you!

Hawaii 2016

The day before spring break was a PERFECT day for our kindergarten trip to Hawaii. We boarded the plane, watched a safety video, and our pilot radioed in and helped us take off to hot and sunny Hawaii. Our on-flight entertainment was an A-Z Hawaii book. Once we arrived in Hawaii we had stations and even traveled to 2 different islands to learn how to surf and do the hula! What a fun day. See some of the highlights below.

Habitats

This week we learned about different habitats. On Friday, we divided into 5 groups to make a poster about 5 different habitats. Look and listen below to discover our new learning.

David Shannon

We have loved reading and exploring David Shannon's books.

The Little Hummingbird

This week we read the book The Little Hummingbird. Our thinking grew and changed as we read about the tiny bird that did something little, but made a big difference. We shared our thinking by creating with legos, blocks, or art materials. Here are our smart thoughts about the book.

Snow Creatures 2016

After reading Lois Elhert's book, Snowballs, we couldn't wait to make our own snow creatures. Thanks to our K families for sending in great "junk" to help us create. We painted, measured, cut, glued, taped, and used tons of cooperation!

Gingerbread Creations

Before break we read several versions of the story "The Gingerbread Man". After reading these books, we brainstormed ways we could help the gingerbread man. The kindergartners used a variety of classroom materials to plan, create, and share ways to help him out. You'll love our smart ideas!
